My name is Stefania Demurtas (born in 1991) and in 2019 I married Salvatore Marongiu (born in 1987). Since then, we have turned our passion for Nature into a lifestyle as well as a job.
Tenute il Maggese, a family farm since four generations located in the countryside of Tortolì, Ogliastra, has been in Stefania’s hands for more than 10 years.
Our goal is to regenerate the soil and to produce genuine food for ourselves and the local population. We are reforesting our farm to create a peaceful, climate-resilient and self-sufficient space. The ultimate goal, which will take several more years of work, is to create an ecosystem that produces more resources than are required for its own functioning by redistributing the surplus throughout the territory to create local supply chains. We want to create our own natural paradise where we can live self-sufficiently. We thought of doing this by involving responsible travellers by offering them a sustainable tourism option to visit Ogliastra, one of the 5 Blue Zones in the world.

Our projects
The agricamping ExperienceNature is a start-up still in its early days. We expect to complete the first phase of the construction work for the opening of our project by spring 2024.
Contribute to making this dream a reality!
Our carbon footprint reduction project offers groups of responsible travelers the opportunity to plant trees and collaborate in food forest management, in order to offset the carbon emissions generated by their holiday in Sardinia.
The experience “From wheat to pasta” consists of learning the entire process of making pasta from our wheat. You will get to experience the milling process with a small replica stone mill, learn how sieves are used, and we will teach you how to make the oldest Sardinian pasta, Sa Fregula, which you can take home at the end of the workshop.
We are the custodians of ancient varieties of wheat and legumes in an effort to safeguard these local species from the risk of extinction. Among these species are the Black Lentils of Calasetta, black chickpeas, ancient beans, dozens of traditional varieties of tomatoes, and the Facussa Cucumber, an irregularly shaped cucumber that tastes very delicious but whose shape and size do not meet the standards of modern commerce, and yet is well suited to rural agriculture in terms of productivity and resistance to disease. You can help us shell the pods and select the seeds for the new year, contributing to the preservation of these precious seeds.
We are also part of the Rete dei semi della Sardegna (Seed Network of Sardinia), a network aimed at safeguarding biodiversity in Sardinia and beyond.
Finally, we are involved in the cultivation of evolutionary populations, an effective method to fight insects and diseases as well as to fight climate change thanks to the ability of these seeds to adapt and evolve over time. By self-seeding their harvest, farmers obtain the most suitable seed from year to year, free of royalties and restrictions imposed by seed companies. Moreover, with this method, there is no need for plant treatments and fertilisers because in the mix the most suitable varieties will self-select to produce with what is available.
Our territory
The province of Ogliastra, land of centenarians recognised as one of the 5 Blue Zones in the world, is famous for its crystal-clear waters, pristine nature, genuine food, and the warm hospitality of its inhabitants. The centenarians of this land, whose genetics have remained almost unvaried since Neolithic times, reveal a secret now ignored by many to live a long and healthy life: leading a lifestyle in harmony with Nature. Time in Ogliastra is in fact still marked by the rhythms of Nature, on which the agricultural and pastoral activities that characterise the local economy are based.
Come and visit us to experience first-hand the secrets behind Ogliastra’s longevity: a lifestyle in close contact with Nature and far from the stress of a consumerist life, a healthy diet, and the wholesomeness of the water and air. You will visit our farm designed following the ethics and principles of Permaculture, which is slowly taking form. You will discover a pristine farm that has been owned by Stefania’s family for 3 generations. You will be able to catch a glimpse of the ancient and characteristic stone walls along the borders of our land. You will be able to book horseback riding tours in the recently opened riding school that borders the estate and is within walking distance. You will also have the opportunity to discover the numerous archaeological sites in the surroundings.
Let yourself be lead by the echo of thousand-year-old traditions to discover the deep connection between the island’s uncontaminated nature and its inhabitants. Discover the unbreakable ancestral bond of the centenarians with the land and its ruggedness, and recognise in their hands gestures transmitted from generation to generation. Immerse yourself in a timeless journey to discover an area with high historical and energetic value thanks to its primacy in terms of the density of archaeological sites. On the island there are around 8,000 nuraghi, 2,500 domus de janas, about a thousand tombs of the giants, approximately 1,000 menhirs, and hundreds of temples and sacred wells.
You will have the opportunity to venture into the wilderness to admire the nuraghi, burial sites, and sanctuaries of our ancestors, testimonies to an ancestral spirituality whose call still echoes today, reaching deep into the souls of us all. Get in touch with genuine Sardinians to get an insight into their culture and discover in their silences the sacredness of rituals and tradition.
